Large Cartoccio Vase by Pietro Chiesa for Fontana Arte
Italy, 1935-1936
Known as the Cartoccio Vase, this vase is shaped by pressing circular flat glass to a wooden mold. The vase appears as the first two entries in the Corning Glass Museum exhibition catalog "Italian Glass, 1930-1970: Masterpieces of Design from Murano and Milan" Helmut Ricke This 1950's example is executed in pressed diamond patterned glass. Acid etched signature, Fontana Italy.
